5/28/07 Danbury Memorial Day Parade

Memorial Day Parade
This year’s Memorial day parade went off without a hitch. No less than 13 Museum owned vehicles rumbled through the streets of Danbury. The museum had over 30 Volunteers helping out by either driving vehicles, marching in uniform or just plainly waving to the crowd.  As it does every year, the population of Danbury came out in force and the streets were lined for miles. The weather that day was perfect; take a look at the photos!

Model Ship Donation

Amazing! The family of the late Frank Eldridge (Captain, U.S.N. WWII), has donated a truly amazing model ship collection to the museum. Each of these models was scratch built by Mr. Eldridge with no details omitted.  This extensive project took years to produce. Most of the models are replicas of British and American ships that Mr. Eldridge served on. This collection, along with many other artifacts, will be put on display in the future. One of the models, LST-287, which landed tanks on D-Day. Is currently on display in the Museum’s main gallery. See some of the models bellow.

Museum on the Radio!
Broadcast station I95 at 95.6fm hosted a morning radio show on location at the Military Museum! Throughout the day, for the past few months, commercials featuring the Military Museum have graced the airwaves. The point of the advertising is to spread knowledge of the museum to many new people, who otherwise may have never heard of the Museum. The radio ad is available here. No Radio show is complete without contests, and we held a raffle for four people to ride tanks in the Memorial Day parade.
