Issue # 3      "ON TRACK"         NEWSLETTER      July, 2006

Volunteer From France

Maxime Blanc-Straus, has come to us all the way from Lyon France. He is heavily interested in Second World War tanks, which makes him very helpful here at the museum. His In depth knowledge of computers and internet has also proven to be a great help. By July 29th, he will have completed 2 months of full time volunteer service to the Military Museum. He has managed to take some trips into New York city, including seeing the 4th of July Fireworks. He says he has had a great time, and greatly appreciates his chance to help out with the Military Museum. We were surprised to learn that Maxime turned down jobs at other museums, including the Smithsonian institute in Washington DC! But as he explains, "the museum is a very special place with an intensive focus". Maxime is just one of many Internationals that have expressed deep interest in the museum. Thanks to the Web page, word is really getting out!

Aaron Atwood with the USMC

Long time museum volunteer Aaron Atwood is currently at Paris Island, A USMC cadet in training. Aaron has written us from boot camp and says "the food is great" "sand Fleas are everywhere!" As we predicted Aaron seems to be getting through his training without a hitch. Aaron is Famous for his good spirit and his ability to ignore the elements, running miles in winter in his summer work out clothes!  We all wish him a safe completion of his training. Aaron hopes to play French horn in marine bands, with the long term goal of being in the President's official band ("The Presidents Own"). Naturally we are very proud of him! GOOD LUCK AARON!
